Role

This committee is charged with facilitating communication within the HIN membership and between HIN the general public and the network of healthcare organisations in Ontario.
The committee formulates and develops strategies for communicating HIN’s activities and engaging the exchange of information between the HIN membership and other interested bodies.

Committee Responsibilities

  • The facilitation of a quarterly newsletter to be distributed via the HIN website.
  • The identification of the themes to be addressed in the Newsletter and the recruitment of individuals who will contribute to the Newsletter.
  • The coordination of the development of the Newsletter.
  • The maintenance and development of HIN website
  • The maintenance and development of HIN literature such as brochure, flyers, etc.



Activities 2008-2009

The Board kept the Communications Committee busy this year with notices to membership, press releases to the media, letters of support to partner organizations and a survey for interpreters:
•Flyer and press release for January networking meeting “Certified, Trained, Accredited, Tested…  What Does It All Mean?”
•Flyer for June Networking Meeting: Recruitment Fair
•Development of Interpreter Survey
•Flyer for HIN’s AGM to be held September 18th, 2009.
•Reviews and edits of released communiqué to membership
•Letter of support for AILIA’s proposal for federal funding under the Canadian Language Sector Enhancement Program (CLSEP).
•August 2009: Letter of support for Glendon College’s School of Translation’s proposal for federal funding under the Canadian Language Sector Enhancement Program (CLSEP).

Often this work is time sensitive.  The Communications Committee has supported HIN operations through its consistently prompt response and excellent work.
